Default Monk newb help!!!

I been reading a few of the posts in here and found nothing like this, if there is then please point me to it.

I am starting a monk shortly for the sole purpose of farming (55ing). I have a 55 necro and would like the monk due to its versatility Mo/any > N/Mo only.

So here's my question, I know what skills I need for 55ing and where to get them, but what is the best way to start out this monk and get it leveled up? healer, protector, smiter? Bear in mind I have never played monk before and have a crappy (I'm sure) setup on my heros...

Any help would be appreciated...

I'd start it in Tyria in order to take advantage of grabbing as many free skills as possible. I would play healer initially, and then transition to protector/or hybrid build as more skills became available.

But if all you want to do with this monk is 55-farm, start it anywhere, power level, and purchase the skills you want. Of course starting on Tyria and making your way to Lion's Arch will give you quick access to all 3 continents, assuming you have all 3 campaigns.

The best way to get it leveled is to get the skills you need to 55 with, get run to droks, and farm trolls until you're level 20. It'll go fast, very fast.

I was thinking of the same thing, just powerlevel myself using 55 style play, but how do I get that right at 100, 120, 150 HP levels etc?

I was going to start in Cantha for the fast lvling of the secondary quests, but maybe I should start in NF and go over the LA at lvl 1, then catch a run to droks and go from there... HMMM, Hard Mode at lvl 1!!! lol

The other thing is this, the problem still lies in the fact that to get to the farm spots I will have to mission... lol, and I do not wanna watch read bars all day...
